Jim O’Hara retired from Intel in 2010 where he was Vice President of their Technology and Manufacturing Group and General manager of Intel Ireland. Jim joined Intel in 1991 as part of the team to create Intel’s first semiconductor facility in Europe. Jim took over as General Manager in 2002 having previously served as Plant Manager. Over the 20 year period Intel invested over €6 billion in expanding leading edge manufacturing facilities and developing a team of thousands of experts in semiconductor manufacturing and engineering. Prior to Intel Jim had a distinguished career as a Senior Executive in Digital Equipment Corporation, the last 5 of which were based in the U.S with responsibility for manufacturing distribution and order fulfilment activities across Asia. Since retiring Jim took on a number of non ex roles in PLC’s and is chairman of a number of Irish technology start-ups. Jim was honoured as ICT industry person of the year in 2007 and was awarded the Business and Finance Business Person of the year in 2009. Jim holds an honorary doctorate of science from NUI and is a fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineers.
