Lord Mayor visits Wisetek in Support for Our Help Against Covid-19
As part of his ongoing efforts to thank people for their contribution to the Covid-19 battle, the Lord Mayor visited Wisetek, a Cork company that specializes in manufacturing and recycling of used IT hardware – but is now focusing on assembling ventilators.
Wisetek is working with the HSE to provide ventilators to hospitals in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
Last week they assembled 22 ventilators and this week they increased their output to 61 with staff working extra hours to get the lifesaving equipment to hospitals.
Lord Mayor Cllr John Sheehan said: “It is humbling to see the fantastic work being done right here in our city in the fight against Covid-19, the staff at Wisetek are a prime example of our hidden heroes – those offering support around the clock to ensure every support is given to hospitals throughout the country”
Wisetek CEO, Sean Sheehan said: “ There is a great atmosphere here at the moment and a real team spirit. We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer our support as we have the knowledge to help in this fight. Our staff have been doing incredible work and have volunteered to work from home and work later shifts to ensure we can deliver all that we can. We must also thank the companies working with us to ensure we can operate in a timely manner like Caulfield Transport who are providing us with free transport, Dell, the O’Connell group and Billy Newton of Bossard”.
